Advanced Substation Operation
Electrical and Power Engineering|5 days|Classroom or live online
This advanced programme assumes delegates already work in the field. It goes past the basics into power factor correction, circuit breaker operation and the judgement calls that sit outside recognised arc flash assessment practice. At this level the constraint is rarely knowledge. It is judgement under pressure, which matters because maintenance teams are increasingly expected to diagnose equipment they did not commission. Delegates leave able to work confidently with lockout and tagout, variable speed drives and protection relays in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Take ownership of lockout and tagout rather than escalating it, measured against recognised arc flash assessment practice
- Explain variable speed drives to someone who does not do the work
- Put protection relays on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
- Spot where transformer maintenance is failing before it becomes a finding
