Arc Flash Safety for Non-Specialists

Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online

Arc Flash Safety for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through substation operation and power factor correction without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with cable fault location, earthing and bonding and load flow analysis in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Bring cable fault location into line with current good practice, measured against the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Explain earthing and bonding to someone who does not do the work
  • Put load flow analysis on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
  • Review transformer maintenance and say plainly whether it is working
