Arc Flash Safety: Tools and Techniques
Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online
This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through condition monitoring and power factor correction on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: ageing plant is being asked to carry loads it was never specified for, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with arc flash assessment, cable fault location and substation operation in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Improve arc flash assessment within their own organisation, measured against the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Spot where cable fault location is failing before it becomes a finding
- Make a decision about substation operation without waiting for a specialist
- Bring lockout and tagout into line with current good practice
What the course covers
- Condition monitoring
- Power factor correction
- Arc flash assessment
- Cable fault location
- Substation operation
- Lockout and tagout
- Variable speed drives
Who should attend
- maintenance planners
- electrical engineers
- engineering managers
