Category Management for Non-Specialists
Procurement and Supply Chain|2 days|Classroom or live online
Category Management for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through supplier development and warehouse operations without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because procurement decisions are now audited for process as closely as for price, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with logistics management, contract negotiation and supplier relationship management in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Explain logistics management to someone who does not do the work, measured against the CIPS professional standard
- Review contract negotiation and say plainly whether it is working
- Take ownership of supplier relationship management rather than escalating it
- Bring supplier performance measurement into line with current good practice
