Circuit Breaker Operation for Non-Specialists

Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online

Circuit Breaker Operation for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through motor control centres and switchgear maintenance without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with electrical safety procedure, lockout and tagout and substation operation in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Review electrical safety procedure and say plainly whether it is working, measured against the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Make a decision about lockout and tagout without waiting for a specialist
  • Bring substation operation into line with current good practice
  • Improve insulation testing within their own organisation
