Consequence Management for Managers

Public Sector and Municipal Management|3 days|Classroom or live online

This programme is for the person accountable for the work rather than the person doing it. It covers supply chain compliance in government and revenue management from the position of someone who must review, approve and answer for the output. Managers carry this because service delivery failures usually trace back to planning rather than to budget, and the accountability does not delegate cleanly. Delegates leave able to work confidently with intergovernmental relations, municipal budgeting and ethics in the public service in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Put intergovernmental relations on a footing they can defend to a reviewer, measured against the Batho Pele principles
  • Review municipal budgeting and say plainly whether it is working
  • Bring ethics in the public service into line with current good practice
  • Make a decision about service delivery planning without waiting for a specialist
