Electrical Installation Standards for Non-Specialists

Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online

Electrical Installation Standards for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through motor control centres and electrical fault analysis without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with switchgear maintenance, substation operation and condition monitoring in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Put switchgear maintenance on a footing they can defend to a reviewer, measured against IEC standards
  • Explain substation operation to someone who does not do the work
  • Bring condition monitoring into line with current good practice
  • Review circuit breaker operation and say plainly whether it is working
