Emergency Preparedness for Non-Specialists

Health, Safety and Environment|2 days|Classroom or live online

Emergency Preparedness for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through permit to work systems and personal protective equipment without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because environmental obligations are increasingly enforced against named individuals, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with safety management systems, contractor safety management and environmental impact assessment in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Review safety management systems and say plainly whether it is working, measured against ISO 14001
  • Bring contractor safety management into line with current good practice
  • Explain environmental impact assessment to someone who does not do the work
  • Make a decision about confined space entry without waiting for a specialist
