Emergency Preparedness: Tools and Techniques

Health, Safety and Environment|3 days|Classroom or live online

This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through waste management and contractor safety management on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: safety systems are often documented to a standard that daily practice does not match, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with environmental impact assessment, emergency preparedness and working at height in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Put environmental impact assessment on a footing they can defend to a reviewer, measured against the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Make a decision about emergency preparedness without waiting for a specialist
  • Explain working at height to someone who does not do the work
  • Take ownership of incident investigation rather than escalating it
