Fundamentals of Electrical Safety

Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online

Fundamentals of Electrical Safety is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through substation operation and electrical safety procedure without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because ageing plant is being asked to carry loads it was never specified for, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with earthing and bonding, insulation testing and arc flash assessment in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Put earthing and bonding on a footing they can defend to a reviewer, measured against IEC standards
  • Explain insulation testing to someone who does not do the work
  • Spot where arc flash assessment is failing before it becomes a finding
  • Make a decision about motor control centres without waiting for a specialist
