Fundamentals of Ethics in the Public Service

Public Sector and Municipal Management|2 days|Classroom or live online

Fundamentals of Ethics in the Public Service is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through asset management and supply chain compliance in government without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because audit outcomes have become the dominant measure of municipal performance, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with municipal budgeting, integrated development planning and audit action planning in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Make a decision about municipal budgeting without waiting for a specialist, measured against the MFMA
  • Explain integrated development planning to someone who does not do the work
  • Take ownership of audit action planning rather than escalating it
  • Review records management and say plainly whether it is working
