Fundamentals of Standby Power Systems

Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online

Fundamentals of Standby Power Systems is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through condition monitoring and arc flash assessment without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with electrical safety procedure, transformer maintenance and insulation testing in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Put electrical safety procedure on a footing they can defend to a reviewer, measured against recognised arc flash assessment practice
  • Make a decision about transformer maintenance without waiting for a specialist
  • Explain insulation testing to someone who does not do the work
  • Bring earthing and bonding into line with current good practice
