Fundamentals of Substation Operation
Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online
Fundamentals of Substation Operation is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through circuit breaker operation and insulation testing without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with substation operation, motor control centres and cable fault location in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Make a decision about substation operation without waiting for a specialist, measured against recognised arc flash assessment practice
- Explain motor control centres to someone who does not do the work
- Put cable fault location on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
- Review power factor correction and say plainly whether it is working
