Fundamentals of Switchgear Maintenance

Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online

Fundamentals of Switchgear Maintenance is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through condition monitoring and insulation testing without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with standby generation, load flow analysis and arc flash assessment in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Improve standby generation within their own organisation, measured against IEC standards
  • Take ownership of load flow analysis rather than escalating it
  • Spot where arc flash assessment is failing before it becomes a finding
  • Make a decision about switchgear maintenance without waiting for a specialist
