Fundamentals of Transformer Maintenance

Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online

Fundamentals of Transformer Maintenance is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through load flow analysis and standby generation without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because maintenance teams are increasingly expected to diagnose equipment they did not commission, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with substation operation, lockout and tagout and protection relays in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Bring substation operation into line with current good practice, measured against the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Spot where lockout and tagout is failing before it becomes a finding
  • Take ownership of protection relays rather than escalating it
  • Improve transformer maintenance within their own organisation
