High Voltage Operation for Non-Specialists
Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online
High Voltage Operation for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through arc flash assessment and switchgear maintenance without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with variable speed drives, substation operation and earthing and bonding in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Take ownership of variable speed drives rather than escalating it, measured against the SANS wiring code
- Explain substation operation to someone who does not do the work
- Spot where earthing and bonding is failing before it becomes a finding
- Make a decision about cable fault location without waiting for a specialist
