Intergovernmental Relations for Non-Specialists
Public Sector and Municipal Management|2 days|Classroom or live online
Intergovernmental Relations for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through performance management in government and annual reporting without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because officials are held personally accountable under legislation many have never been trained on, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with ethics in the public service, public participation and irregular expenditure in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Make a decision about ethics in the public service without waiting for a specialist, measured against the MFMA
- Spot where public participation is failing before it becomes a finding
- Put irregular expenditure on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
- Improve audit action planning within their own organisation
