Intergovernmental Relations in the Public Sector
Public Sector and Municipal Management|3 days|Classroom or live online
Intergovernmental Relations in the Public Sector takes the discipline and works it through the constraints of this operating context, including integrated development planning, intergovernmental relations and the compliance obligations that come with it. The sector framing is necessary because service delivery failures usually trace back to planning rather than to budget, and generic training rarely survives contact with the local rules. Delegates leave able to work confidently with ethics in the public service, public participation and service delivery planning in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Review ethics in the public service and say plainly whether it is working, measured against the MFMA
- Bring public participation into line with current good practice
- Take ownership of service delivery planning rather than escalating it
- Spot where grant management is failing before it becomes a finding
