Internal Controls in the Public Sector
Finance and Accounting|3 days|Classroom or live online
Internal Controls in the Public Sector takes the discipline and works it through the constraints of this operating context, including lease accounting, financial instruments and the compliance obligations that come with it. The sector framing is necessary because reporting standards keep moving and finance teams carry the consequence of getting them wrong, and generic training rarely survives contact with the local rules. Delegates leave able to work confidently with budgeting and variance analysis, cost allocation and management accounting in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Take ownership of budgeting and variance analysis rather than escalating it, measured against IFRS for SMEs
- Review cost allocation and say plainly whether it is working
- Explain management accounting to someone who does not do the work
- Bring impairment testing into line with current good practice
