Managing Ethics in the Public Service
Public Sector and Municipal Management|3 days|Classroom or live online
This programme is for the person accountable for the work rather than the person doing it. It covers public finance management and integrated development planning from the position of someone who must review, approve and answer for the output. Managers carry this because officials are held personally accountable under legislation many have never been trained on, and the accountability does not delegate cleanly. Delegates leave able to work confidently with service delivery planning, asset management and audit action planning in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Bring service delivery planning into line with current good practice, measured against the MFMA
- Spot where asset management is failing before it becomes a finding
- Make a decision about audit action planning without waiting for a specialist
- Explain ethics in the public service to someone who does not do the work
