Managing Instrumentation and Control

Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online

This programme is for the person accountable for the work rather than the person doing it. It covers motor control centres and insulation testing from the position of someone who must review, approve and answer for the output. Managers carry this because ageing plant is being asked to carry loads it was never specified for, and the accountability does not delegate cleanly. Delegates leave able to work confidently with switchgear maintenance, substation operation and lockout and tagout in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Put switchgear maintenance on a footing they can defend to a reviewer, measured against the SANS wiring code
  • Improve substation operation within their own organisation
  • Bring lockout and tagout into line with current good practice
  • Make a decision about standby generation without waiting for a specialist
