Managing Standby Power Systems

Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online

This programme is for the person accountable for the work rather than the person doing it. It covers variable speed drives and arc flash assessment from the position of someone who must review, approve and answer for the output. Managers carry this because electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and the accountability does not delegate cleanly. Delegates leave able to work confidently with cable fault location, switchgear maintenance and insulation testing in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Improve cable fault location within their own organisation, measured against the SANS wiring code
  • Explain switchgear maintenance to someone who does not do the work
  • Bring insulation testing into line with current good practice
  • Put standby generation on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
