Managing Switchgear Maintenance
Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online
This programme is for the person accountable for the work rather than the person doing it. It covers arc flash assessment and substation operation from the position of someone who must review, approve and answer for the output. Managers carry this because electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and the accountability does not delegate cleanly. Delegates leave able to work confidently with cable fault location, condition monitoring and circuit breaker operation in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Put cable fault location on a footing they can defend to a reviewer, measured against the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Spot where condition monitoring is failing before it becomes a finding
- Make a decision about circuit breaker operation without waiting for a specialist
- Take ownership of transformer maintenance rather than escalating it
