Motor Control Centres for Non-Specialists

Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online

Motor Control Centres for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through arc flash assessment and switchgear maintenance without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because maintenance teams are increasingly expected to diagnose equipment they did not commission, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with condition monitoring, load flow analysis and substation operation in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Spot where condition monitoring is failing before it becomes a finding, measured against the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Review load flow analysis and say plainly whether it is working
  • Explain substation operation to someone who does not do the work
  • Make a decision about standby generation without waiting for a specialist
