Municipal Finance in the Public Sector
Public Sector and Municipal Management|3 days|Classroom or live online
Municipal Finance in the Public Sector takes the discipline and works it through the constraints of this operating context, including service delivery planning, ethics in the public service and the compliance obligations that come with it. The sector framing is necessary because service delivery failures usually trace back to planning rather than to budget, and generic training rarely survives contact with the local rules. Delegates leave able to work confidently with irregular expenditure, grant management and intergovernmental relations in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Bring irregular expenditure into line with current good practice, measured against the Batho Pele principles
- Improve grant management within their own organisation
- Put intergovernmental relations on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
- Make a decision about revenue management without waiting for a specialist
