Power Factor Correction: Tools and Techniques

Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online

This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through transformer maintenance and cable fault location on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: ageing plant is being asked to carry loads it was never specified for, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with substation operation, electrical fault analysis and motor control centres in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Bring substation operation into line with current good practice, measured against the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Improve electrical fault analysis within their own organisation
  • Take ownership of motor control centres rather than escalating it
  • Explain condition monitoring to someone who does not do the work

What the course covers

  • Transformer maintenance
  • Cable fault location
  • Substation operation
  • Electrical fault analysis
  • Motor control centres
  • Condition monitoring
  • Electrical safety procedure

Who should attend
