Practical Electrical Safety

This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through condition monitoring and standby generation on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: maintenance teams are increasingly expected to diagnose equipment they did not commission, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with protection relays, cable fault location and arc flash assessment in their own organisation.

- Make a decision about protection relays without waiting for a specialist, measured against the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Take ownership of cable fault location rather than escalating it
- Explain arc flash assessment to someone who does not do the work
- Review circuit breaker operation and say plainly whether it is working
