Practical Municipal Asset Management
Public Sector and Municipal Management|3 days|Classroom or live online
This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through asset management and ethics in the public service on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: officials are held personally accountable under legislation many have never been trained on, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with public finance management, audit action planning and performance management in government in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Put public finance management on a footing they can defend to a reviewer, measured against the PFMA
- Take ownership of audit action planning rather than escalating it
- Review performance management in government and say plainly whether it is working
- Spot where irregular expenditure is failing before it becomes a finding
