Practical Public Affairs

Communications and Public Relations|3 days|Classroom or live online

This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through message development and interview technique on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: an organisation's reputation is now formed faster than its communications function can respond, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with stakeholder mapping, brand positioning and media relations in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Put stakeholder mapping on a footing they can defend to a reviewer, measured against recognised crisis communication protocols
  • Review brand positioning and say plainly whether it is working
  • Make a decision about media relations without waiting for a specialist
  • Explain issues management to someone who does not do the work
