Practical Substation Operation
Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online
This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through lockout and tagout and protection relays on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: ageing plant is being asked to carry loads it was never specified for, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with cable fault location, standby generation and motor control centres in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Explain cable fault location to someone who does not do the work, measured against the SANS wiring code
- Take ownership of standby generation rather than escalating it
- Put motor control centres on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
- Improve electrical fault analysis within their own organisation
What the course covers
- Lockout and tagout
- Protection relays
- Cable fault location
- Standby generation
- Motor control centres
