Practical Switchgear Maintenance
Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online
This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through electrical fault analysis and lockout and tagout on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: maintenance teams are increasingly expected to diagnose equipment they did not commission, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with switchgear maintenance, variable speed drives and circuit breaker operation in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Take ownership of switchgear maintenance rather than escalating it, measured against the SANS wiring code
- Put variable speed drives on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
- Review circuit breaker operation and say plainly whether it is working
- Bring electrical safety procedure into line with current good practice
