Public Affairs for Non-Specialists
Communications and Public Relations|2 days|Classroom or live online
Public Affairs for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through stakeholder mapping and crisis communication without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because spokespeople are frequently appointed without ever having been trained, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with media relations, interview technique and message development in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Bring media relations into line with current good practice, measured against established corporate communication practice
- Put interview technique on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
- Improve message development within their own organisation
- Take ownership of community engagement rather than escalating it
