Public Participation for Non-Specialists

2 days|Delivered on request

Public Participation for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through municipal budgeting and revenue management without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because officials are held personally accountable under legislation many have never been trained on, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with grant management, asset management and audit action planning in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Bring grant management into line with current good practice, measured against the Municipal Systems Act
  • Put asset management on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
  • Explain audit action planning to someone who does not do the work
  • Review council procedure and say plainly whether it is working
