Standby Power Systems for Managers

Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online

This programme is for the person accountable for the work rather than the person doing it. It covers protection relays and earthing and bonding from the position of someone who must review, approve and answer for the output. Managers carry this because maintenance teams are increasingly expected to diagnose equipment they did not commission, and the accountability does not delegate cleanly. Delegates leave able to work confidently with circuit breaker operation, transformer maintenance and substation operation in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Review circuit breaker operation and say plainly whether it is working, measured against the SANS wiring code
  • Explain transformer maintenance to someone who does not do the work
  • Improve substation operation within their own organisation
  • Spot where power factor correction is failing before it becomes a finding
