Standby Power Systems for Non-Specialists
Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online
Standby Power Systems for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through switchgear maintenance and earthing and bonding without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with cable fault location, electrical fault analysis and transformer maintenance in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Bring cable fault location into line with current good practice, measured against recognised arc flash assessment practice
- Take ownership of electrical fault analysis rather than escalating it
- Make a decision about transformer maintenance without waiting for a specialist
- Put protection relays on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
