Standby Power Systems in the Public Sector

Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online

Standby Power Systems in the Public Sector takes the discipline and works it through the constraints of this operating context, including lockout and tagout, earthing and bonding and the compliance obligations that come with it. The sector framing is necessary because ageing plant is being asked to carry loads it was never specified for, and generic training rarely survives contact with the local rules. Delegates leave able to work confidently with transformer maintenance, circuit breaker operation and cable fault location in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Make a decision about transformer maintenance without waiting for a specialist, measured against recognised arc flash assessment practice
  • Bring circuit breaker operation into line with current good practice
  • Take ownership of cable fault location rather than escalating it
  • Spot where power factor correction is failing before it becomes a finding
