Substation Operation for Managers
Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online
This programme is for the person accountable for the work rather than the person doing it. It covers variable speed drives and lockout and tagout from the position of someone who must review, approve and answer for the output. Managers carry this because ageing plant is being asked to carry loads it was never specified for, and the accountability does not delegate cleanly. Delegates leave able to work confidently with switchgear maintenance, motor control centres and insulation testing in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Improve switchgear maintenance within their own organisation, measured against the SANS wiring code
- Review motor control centres and say plainly whether it is working
- Take ownership of insulation testing rather than escalating it
- Put protection relays on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
