Substation Operation: Tools and Techniques
Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online
This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through earthing and bonding and power factor correction on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with protection relays, cable fault location and standby generation in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Bring protection relays into line with current good practice, measured against recognised arc flash assessment practice
- Take ownership of cable fault location rather than escalating it
- Review standby generation and say plainly whether it is working
- Put electrical fault analysis on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
