Supplier Development for Non-Specialists

Procurement and Supply Chain|2 days|Classroom or live online

Supplier Development for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through tender evaluation and spend analysis without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because procurement decisions are now audited for process as closely as for price, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with contract negotiation, strategic sourcing and e-procurement systems in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Spot where contract negotiation is failing before it becomes a finding, measured against the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act
  • Explain strategic sourcing to someone who does not do the work
  • Put e-procurement systems on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
  • Make a decision about total cost of ownership without waiting for a specialist
