Switchgear Maintenance for Small and Medium Enterprises

Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online

Switchgear Maintenance for Small and Medium Enterprises takes the discipline and works it through the constraints of this operating context, including electrical fault analysis, substation operation and the compliance obligations that come with it. The sector framing is necessary because maintenance teams are increasingly expected to diagnose equipment they did not commission, and generic training rarely survives contact with the local rules. Delegates leave able to work confidently with motor control centres, lockout and tagout and electrical safety procedure in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Take ownership of motor control centres rather than escalating it, measured against the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Explain lockout and tagout to someone who does not do the work
  • Review electrical safety procedure and say plainly whether it is working
  • Make a decision about power factor correction without waiting for a specialist
