Switchgear Maintenance: Tools and Techniques
Electrical and Power Engineering|3 days|Classroom or live online
This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through transformer maintenance and electrical safety procedure on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: electrical incidents are among the few workplace risks that are immediately fatal, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with power factor correction, lockout and tagout and motor control centres in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Put power factor correction on a footing they can defend to a reviewer, measured against the SANS wiring code
- Make a decision about lockout and tagout without waiting for a specialist
- Take ownership of motor control centres rather than escalating it
- Review insulation testing and say plainly whether it is working
