Variable Speed Drives for Non-Specialists
Electrical and Power Engineering|2 days|Classroom or live online
Variable Speed Drives for Non-Specialists is built for delegates who need to be useful in this area quickly. It starts at first principles and works through earthing and bonding and motor control centres without assuming prior specialist training. The programme exists because ageing plant is being asked to carry loads it was never specified for, and because capability in this area is usually built on the job with no structure behind it. Delegates leave able to work confidently with arc flash assessment, substation operation and electrical safety procedure in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Take ownership of arc flash assessment rather than escalating it, measured against recognised arc flash assessment practice
- Make a decision about substation operation without waiting for a specialist
- Explain electrical safety procedure to someone who does not do the work
- Put condition monitoring on a footing they can defend to a reviewer
