Practical Public Finance Management

3 days|Delivered on request

This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through performance management in government and revenue management on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: officials are held personally accountable under legislation many have never been trained on, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with service delivery planning, ethics in the public service and audit action planning in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Explain service delivery planning to someone who does not do the work, measured against the Batho Pele principles
  • Make a decision about ethics in the public service without waiting for a specialist
  • Spot where audit action planning is failing before it becomes a finding
  • Review consequence management and say plainly whether it is working
