Practical Public Sector Financial Management
3 days|Delivered on request
This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through internal controls and capital budgeting on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: reporting standards keep moving and finance teams carry the consequence of getting them wrong, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with lease accounting, impairment testing and financial statement preparation in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Review lease accounting and say plainly whether it is working, measured against GRAP for public entities
- Explain impairment testing to someone who does not do the work
- Take ownership of financial statement preparation rather than escalating it
- Improve budgeting and variance analysis within their own organisation
