Practical Public Participation
3 days|Delivered on request
This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through grant management and revenue management on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: officials are held personally accountable under legislation many have never been trained on, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with service delivery planning, records management and irregular expenditure in their own organisation.
What delegates leave able to do
- Explain service delivery planning to someone who does not do the work, measured against the PFMA
- Bring records management into line with current good practice
- Take ownership of irregular expenditure rather than escalating it
- Make a decision about public participation without waiting for a specialist
