Practical Ethics in the Public Service

3 days|Delivered on request

This is a hands-on programme. Delegates spend most of the time working through records management and performance management in government on live scenarios rather than listening to theory about them. The practical emphasis is deliberate: officials are held personally accountable under legislation many have never been trained on, and reading about the method has repeatedly proved insufficient. Delegates leave able to work confidently with grant management, irregular expenditure and annual reporting in their own organisation.

What delegates leave able to do

  • Explain grant management to someone who does not do the work, measured against the Municipal Systems Act
  • Spot where irregular expenditure is failing before it becomes a finding
  • Improve annual reporting within their own organisation
  • Make a decision about asset management without waiting for a specialist
